All You Need To Know About Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis

Bioelectrical impedance analysis, also known as bioelectrical composition analysis, is a fast and inexpensive tool for measuring body composition and how it can change over time. He is currently one of the most popular body fat analysts due to his ability to effectively assess BIA body fat.

This technique makes it possible to measure alternating electric currents as they flow through the body. The flow that is introduced into the body mainly passes through the upper and lower limbs and flows through the water basin of the body. Recent advances in technology have also made it possible to measure the impedance composition of the body using a wide frequency range, which can help differentiate body compartments more effectively.

How does bioelectrical impedance analysis work?

Bioelectrical impedance analysis works by determining the impedance encountered by an electric current as it flows through the human body.

Two power sources are usually placed on the feet and the backs of the hands. This is accompanied by the placement of electrode sensors in other body parts, such as wrist and ankle circumference.

While the distally placed electrode produces a current of 50 kHz, the electrode at the medial end works by sensing a drop in voltage as it passes through the body. The composition of the various body parts is then calculated from the resistance transferred by the analyzer at the end.
